The Lake Winnipesaukee Historical Society, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is dedicated to promoting and preserving the history and heritage of Lake Winnipesaukee and its surroundings.

We achieve this mission primarily through the summer hours at the Lake Winnipesaukee Museum. Visit our website for details on hours, directions, exhibits, and events.

Historical information is conveniently organized by topic in accessible binders at the Museum. Our staff can research historical inquiries using these files, our collections, and local contacts. We also offer referrals to other historical societies, museums, or organizations when appropriate.

Founded in 1985 by Bob Lawton and his son Tim, passionate lake enthusiasts and scuba divers, the Society opened the Museum in June 2004 to celebrate the area's rich history.

We are currently raising funds for an expansion to create more exhibition space.
