Return to Main History

FROM WHERE TO IN THE LAKES REGION OF NEW HAMPSHIRE 1949

Tuftonboro lies between Winnrpesaukee and the Ossipee Mountains and comprises Melvin Village, Mirror Lake, Tuftonboro Center and Tuftonboro Corner. The Old-fashioned square dances at Melvin Village throughout the summer typify the friendliness and charming antique manner. During the summer its hotels and cordial guest homes are well filled; and fall and winter are gay seasons — with excellent hunting, skating, snow shoeing and skiing — and good ice-fishing.
